May 2015

Renowned for its fine-dining and inventive cuisine, The World, the largest privately owned residential yacht on earth, has announced that acclaimed Chef Curtis Duffy of Chicago’s three Michelin-starred restaurant Grace, has joined the Ship’s Guest Chef Program. Chef Duffy and Grace General Manager Michael Muser, also a sommelier, will be on board from July 19 – 24, 2015 during The World’s voyage from Porto, Portugal to Bilbao, Spain. Chef Duffy will bring his innovative culinary style and expertise to The World, preparing an exquisite dinner for the Ship’s Residents and hosting a master class cooking demonstration.

Known for his ‘modern masterpieces,’ Chef Duffy, along with assistance from several sous chefs who will be travelling with him and Muser to the Ship, will begin preparation in Chicago at Grace and will finish cooking the multi-course dinner in the Ship’s galley. The elegant and refined dishes will be served by The World’s white-gloved staff in the Ship’s fine-dining, haute cuisine restaurant, Portraits. A benefit of home ownership on The World, Residents from 19 different countries including the U.S., Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and more, will have the unique opportunity to savor masterfully prepared food by Chicago’s top chef – while sailing the Atlantic Ocean’s Bay of Biscay en route to Northern Spain.

Chef Duffy quotes “I’m very excited to be partnering with The World, and I’m honored to be part of such an extraordinary and unique project. I am looking forward to working with the expert team on board to create a special experience for the Residents”.

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Curtis Duffy began working on his own restaurant, Grace, in 2012. It has become the pinnacle of his career in fine dining. Chef Duffy’s culinary style puts ingredients at the forefront. He creates elegant and graceful dishes using unique techniques to enhance the flavor of his ingredients. Since opening Grace in December 2012, Chef Duffy and the restaurant have been awarded many accolades including a prestigious three stars from the Michelin Guide, Chicago Tribune’s Chef of the Year 2014, a James Beard Award for Best Restaurant Design (75 seats and under), AAA’s Five Diamond Rating, Forbes Travel Guide’s Five-Star Rating, Robb Report’s Best Restaurant in the World 2013, Chicago Magazine’s Best New Restaurant, and Eater National’s Chef of the Year.
