The 2025 Dry-dock focused on energy efficiency and sustainability, ensuring that The World continues to meet and exceed global climate targets. Among the most impactful updates was the installation of shore power (also known as cold ironing) with a High-Voltage Shore Connection (HVSC) system. This allows the Ship to plug into shore-based electricity while docked and shut down its onboard generators. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions while in port, in line with the regulatory requirements in ports where this solution is available.
