Renovated, Reimagined, Ready: The World
Late last month The World emerged from a month-long dry dock in Cadiz, Spain. Planning was years in the making and the results are nothing short of magnificent. The transformation from ideas to conceptual renderings to exquisite, tangible reality is breathtaking. Among the most dramatic changes were to Residents’ favorite public areas.
Refurbished Bar and Entertainment Venues
Quantum has been reimagined as a casual sports bar for events, workshops, and live music on a re-engineered stage. New TV screens play sports channels throughout the day along with a daily Happy Hour, bar bites, special snack menu and sports bar serving craft beers, beer flights, champagne, The World’s signature and classic cocktails and more to quench your thirst after a day of exploration.
Regatta Bar, featuring live music with spectacular ocean views, boasts new furniture and a state-of-the-art sound and light system, taking Residents’ favorite karaoke to new heights.
The Plaza (lobby) and Mezzanine also received an upgraded sound system and hi-tech projector screen, 12 exciting new art installations, while an Art Wall can be transformed with a screen for projections. Aesthetic improvements are visible throughout the Ship including a totally modern Reception area and Front Desk sporting three individual pods for privacy.
Upgraded Spaces for Relaxation and Enrichment
The World’s popular library, aka The Study, offers a cozier atmosphere with new furniture, reorganized bookshelves, and a new interactive map table with electronic navigational charts. A new section quickly transforms into a photo corner for workshops with photographers and expedition team members.
Adjacent to The Study is The Garden with its casual new setting and retractable TV for workshops and a hidden wall that reveals a catering counter for parties.
Maintenance and technical upgrades
Although ships are required to head into a dry dock every few years for routine maintenance, The World’s dry dock is anything but routine. Our 2022 dry dock was the most technically involved in the Ship’s history. From stem to stern, components and systems were serviced, not to mention extensive information technology upgrades to our Wi-Fi network, satellite, servers and internet.
Residence renovation and heartfelt appreciation as the Journey continues
During this dry dock, more than 70 Residents took the opportunity to refurbish their Residences as well; a testament to the customization that The World offers Residents to make their Apartment truly their home.
As The World’s luxurious global adventure continues, we extend a heartfelt thank you to the 300 contractors and 300 crew members who made this incredible transformation possible for our community of Residents & Guests.
