The World, Residences at Sea, is awarded ‘Best Ship Wine List in the World 2022’ by The World of Fine Wine Magazine

London, England – September 2022: The World, Residences at Sea has been awarded the most prestigious accolade in The World of Fine Wine magazine ’s World’s Best Wine List Awards 2022. The privately owned residential ship has been awarded the highest possible three-star Wine List rating and has upheld the ‘Best Ship Wine List in The World’ for the eighth consecutive year.

As a lead category winner, The World joins the ranks of some of the finest restaurants on the globe and is unique in its position as being a category winner every year since 2015. This recognition by one of the world’s leading wine magazines is a testament to The World’s incomparable and unique wine collection with wines purchased by its Beverage department during its global journey to each year.

Impressed by The World’s offering, The World of Fine Wine 2022 judging panel commented that “this is a wonderful wine list throughout”, recognising that “the logistics for a list of this calibre is never easy, let alone on a ship.” The catalogue was also praised for the “breadth of origin, style, grape varieties, and by-the-glass offerings” with a particular specialism or regional themes that reflect The World’s ever continuous journey. The panel highlighted that “the list provides a wonderful exploration of particular producers, such as Lucien Le Moine, and regions, for example the Australian selection is very good. It is great to see that organic, biodynamic, and Kosher wines are indicated in the list.”

Speaking on behalf of The World on the accolade, Beverage Manager Marinela Ivanova commented, “We feel very honored to be the recipient of this accolade, considering the overall competition and the worldwide expansion of interest in wine and fine dining. These awards are a great source of pride for our team and for the very sophisticated group of wine connoisseurs that are our Residents. Our ship’s continual journey takes us to the world’s best wine regions where we meet old friends and explore new regions where we make special discoveries. Our goal is to reflect developments in the classic wine producing regions plus to study and represent any wine culture of note in our selection.”

In 2022, The World visited more than 100 ports and in the upcoming year, the exploration of the wine world continues with three extraordinary journeys to Rioja in Spain and Chile, time in Bordeaux, France as well as to sparkling wine producers from Kent and Sussex in England. In addition to creating bespoke wine experiences, the ship’s sommeliers also work closely with The World’s chefs in creating menus and wine pairings that reflect the diverse cultures and foods from the destinations visited on the ship’s global voyage.

The World has a capacity of up to 15,000 bottles and more than 1,200 handpicked selections from 20 countries.
