[LONDON, England, August 2024] – The World, Residences at Sea, the largest privately-owned residential mega yacht on Earth, is pleased to announce it will be calling on Australia again beginning in August 2024 where it will visit Darwin, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Thursday Island, Cooktown and K’gari. The sojourn is part of the ship’s spectacular 2024 voyage to six continents including Antarctica, South and East Africa, South Asia, Indonesia, South Pacific and Australasia. Resident owners of this private community at sea enjoy the ultimate combination of enriching travel to approximately 100 ports of call a year, complemented by world-class amenities, state-of-the-art facilities, and anticipatory service – all from the comfort of their homes on board. The Australian leg of The World’s journey will begin with an expedition to The Kimberley, Australia’s most remote and mysterious coast. The ship will explore the long canyons by Zodiac, Mitchell Falls by scenic helicopter flights and the Bungle Bungles, a unique and extensive range of rock formations only formally documented in the mid-1980s, by plane. The landscape, ancient art forms, wildlife, and tidal features (particularly at Montgomery Reef) are the defining highlights of this stunning region and remote coastline that few people can see. There is no better way to explore The Kimberley than from the safety and comfort of The World.
The ship will then travel to Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands for another expedition that will include the best of The World’s previous visits along with several new destinations. A circuitous route will allow for experiences that will uncover the fascinating cultures that populate these remote islands. The Expedition Team will seize every opportunity for Residents and guests to go hiking, access cultural performances, scuba dive, snorkel, and swim, and find the local experiences that will bring the destination alive. The Solomon Islands are surrounded by water that are positively teeming with sea life, which will be the focus of this adventure. The ship’s arrival in Australia comes after an incredible expedition in January to Antarctica and the Falkland Islands where some Residents experienced a once-in-a-lifetime overland journey to explore the South Pole, followed by South America where Residents visited Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, and the volcanic islands of Tristan da Cunha in February. March found Residents exploring the eastern coast of Africa, immersed in cultural traditions in Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, and Mozambique, before heading east into the Indian Ocean where the Seychelles, Maldives, and Sri Lanka offered a piece of paradise. The Asian leg of the journey included visits to India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam before spending time in the dazzling cities of Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, Nagasaki, and Tokyo. Residents went on to explore Taiwan’s rich history, and relax in the serenity of the Philippines, and Indonesia.
