The World Elevates Its Luxurious Ambiance and Commitment to Sustainability
Sailing with style and grace, The World draws attention wherever it goes. Naturally, a ship of this high standard receives only the finest care and attention to detail, reflecting the impeccable standards of its Residents – an exclusive community devoted to continually investing in their ship’s care and maintenance to keep it in impeccable physical condition. Every three years, this one-of-a-kind residential mega yacht enters Dry-dock to conduct routine technology and maintenance upgrades, update select public spaces, refurbish private residences and maintain the highest standards of living on the seven seas. It emerges refreshed, revitalized, and ready to welcome Residents back aboard for the next extraordinary chapter of their global journey. United by a shared dedication to excellence, sustainability, and visionary design, this remarkable community continues to shape the future of life at sea.
Behind the Scenes of Dry-dock
In spring 2025, The World will embark on a refurbishment destined to elevate its luxurious ambience, uphold its strong commitment to sustainability and undergo routine maintenance. At the Navantia Shipyard in Cádiz, Spain, the Ship will be taken into a Dry-dock where the surrounding water is emptied so that normally submerged portions of the hull and underwater machinery can be cleaned, painted, inspected, and overhauled for maintenance and planned improvements.
When it returns to service after a six-week, $30+ million refurbishment, the Ship will boast a fully transformed Pool Bar & Grill, a revamped Pool Deck, and stunning Pool —ready to impress and inspire relaxation. Enhancements like additional seating, a banquette, a watertight canopy, and a Jacuzzi will turn this favorite gathering space into a sleek, modern oasis.
The World Spa & Wellness Center will introduce a new Cold Plunge in the Aqua Spa, completing a full thermal wellness circuit alongside the sauna and steam room. The salon will be refreshed with new flooring, a new manicure station, and heated treatment room floors for added comfort.
Golf lovers can look forward to a redesigned putting green with more realistic turf, surface material, and natural contours that more closely resemble traditional greens and a more natural experience. A new state-of-the-art simulator at The World Golf Club will offer immersive play on 100+ world-class courses, all without leaving the ship.
Fresh, Modern and Forward-Thinking
The World has received the highest accolades from DNV, a global leader in maritime safety and trusted advisor for the maritime industry. Upon a recent examination from bow to stern, they declared that The World not only exceeds industry standards, but its physical condition is that of a ship that is only 5.6 years old.
The 2025 Dry-dock will focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, ensuring that The World continues to meet and exceed global climate targets. Among the most impactful updates is the installation of shore power (also known as cold ironing) with a High-Voltage Shore Connection (HVSC) system. This will allow the Ship to plug into shore-based electricity while docked and shut down its onboard generators. This will reduce fuel consumption and emissions while in port, in line with the regulatory requirements in ports where this solution is available.
