FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Captain Frank Liska has almost 30 years’ experience in the maritime industry. At The World, the largest privately owned residential yacht on Earth, he is responsible for the daily maritime operation of the Ship including the overall onboard operation of the vessel as well as the safety, comfort and well-being of all Residents, Guests and Crew. He is also involved with planning the Ship’s continuous global itinerary.
Capt. Liska joined The World in 2003 as First Officer, was promoted to Chief Officer in 2007 and to Staff Captain in 2010, a role he held until his promotion to Captain in 2026. Prior to coming to The World, he served as Watchkeeping Officer on the MS Nils Holgersson, an eco-friendly cruise ferry on the Baltic Sea, as First Officer with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.’s MV Splendour of the Seas, and as First Officer with Crystal Cruises’ MV Crystal Symphony.
Capt. Liska hails from the Düsseldorf area in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. He is a graduate of Maritime College Ålesund, now known as Norwegian University of Science and Technology, in Ålesund, Norway. He holds Norwegian and Bahamian Master Mariner Certifications. He has also received special training in vessel sanitation management, senior officer security management, crisis management, environment and protection, human behavior management and proficiency in the operation of Fast Rescue Boats. Among his many interests are running, tennis and hiking. His interest in a seafaring career began early. As a young boy, after a ferry trip from Norway to Germany, he wrote to numerous cruise ship companies to learn more about their ships and still has many of their responses and mementos.
