Guaymas: 21 May 2009 to 22 May 2009

Located on the Sea of Cortez on the Mexican mainland, Guaymas has drawn boaters to its large, well-protected harbour for many years. Fishermen still leave their berths in the pre-dawn hours each day, in search of a good catch. The Arizona border is just a few hundred miles north, making Guaymas a popular vacation spot for Americans who enjoy the relatively quiet beaches of San Carlos and Miramar. The city’s Mardi Gras or Carnival festivities also draw visitors from Mexico and beyond. Several films, including Catch 22 and The Mask of Zorro, were filmed in the area.
