Zihuatanejo: 8 May 2009 to 9 May 2009

Visitors to Zihuatanejo can still enjoy the ambience of old Mexico, something akin to Acapulco fifty years ago. Despite increasing modernization, the small city manages to retain its village charm and more traditional way of life. The main plaza faces the ocean, with the town spreading out around it, beneath a mountainous background. Hit the bustling market on Avenida Benito Juarez to sample some local specialties and stock up on spices and fresh fruit.

Just down the road, ultra-modern Ixtapa caters to those seeking luxury resorts, spirited nightlife and upscale boutiques. Two 18-hole championship golf courses (including one designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.), excellent sport fishing, bird watching, kayaking and snorkeling are among the active pursuits available.
