Port Said: 23 May 2008 to 24 May 2008
Founded in 1859 in conjunction with the construction of the Suez Canal, Port Said sits at the canal's Mediterranean entrance. Thanks to the large number of European companies doing business here, the city seems much more Cosmopolitan than other Egyptian cities.
Many citizens speak several languages in addition to their native tongue. Its status as a free port, meaning no taxes on imported goods, attracts wealthy shoppers from throughout the region. And the wonders of the pyramids lie within driving distance of this thriving port city as well.
