PALM ISLANDS EXPLORATION:
Code: DBI-06
Duration: 5.5 Hours
Date: 31 Mar 2008
Time: 11:30 AM
Explore the iconic Palm Jumeirah, the first of three manmade islands just offshore known collectively as The Palm Islands. A cruise around this and other projects in development, capped by afternoon tea at the famed Burj Al Arab Hotel, make for an enjoyable, informative look at Dubai’s rapidly expanding coastline.
Depart the pier and drive about 40 minutes to Jumeirah Beach, where a visit to The Palms Project sales office provides an overview of the venture. The scale models of the island trilogy and the even more amazing project known as “The World” — 300-odd islands that will ultimately recreate the world’s seven continents—are quite impressive. Drive around the expansive Dubai Marina and residences along Jumeirah Beach en route to the floating pontoon pier where a tour boat awaits. Spend the next 90 minutes or so cruising by Palm Jumeirah and other projects, enjoying a cool beverage along the way.
After returning to the pontoon pier, re-board your van or coach and drive to the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab Hotel. A sumptuous afternoon tea has been arranged at this ultra-luxe hotel, followed by some free time to shop in the arcade or have a look around. The return drive to The World is about 30 minutes.
