Visit the ancient town of Santa Severina, noted for its well preserved Byzantine and Norman art and architecture.

The town of Santa Severina sits high atop a plateau overlooking the Neto Vally, just over an hour’s drive from Crotone. Begin your exploration at the main square, dominated by the castle and the Byzantine cathedral. Your local guide will escort you through the narrow streets and into several landmarks, including the Aragonese castle; the cathedral dedicated to Santa Anastasia and its Byzantine baptistery; and the Church of Santa Filomena. Frescoes from the 10th and 11th centuries, carvings and other works of art and sacred vestments are in plentiful supply.

Take advantage of about half an hour of free time before continuing your walking tour through the medieval town. Return to The World in time for lunch.
