SOCHI & RUSSIAN TEA PLANTATION:

Code: SOC-02

Duration: 3.5hrs

Date: 10 Jul 2008

Time: Afternoon

Enjoy a panoramic drive around Sochi before venturing out into the verdant countryside beneath the slopes of Mount Armyanka.

Located along a strip of coastline known as the Russian Riviera, Sochi is indeed a jewel of a city. Flanked by the perpetually snow-capped Greater Caucasus Mountains to the east and the turquoise waters of the Black Sea to the west, the setting is most appealing. An informative drive around the city will familiarize you with its handsome Mediterranean-styled buildings, green parks and colourful local markets. Have a look at Riviera Park, home to numerous amusement rides, games, art galleries and stately Magnolia trees that were planted there by Russian astronauts.

Travel alongside Sochi’s coastline before turning inland, trading views of the sea for rolling green coastal plains and sub-tropical forests. Make your way to the slopes of Mount Armyanka and the village of Dagomys, the heart of Russia’s tea-growing region. Visit one of the renowned tea plantations, where an agronomist will talk about the history of Russian tea growing and the process involved. There is time to take some photos from this picturesque location before proceeding to the chalet. Relax and enjoy your perfectly-brewed tea and homemade sweets, as a troupe of local dancers provides a lively folkloric performance.
