The Senior Manager, Destination Planning position encompass the following main areas;

  • Research and development of global experiences consistent with Resident preferences that will exceed Resident and Guest satisfaction in bringing the Destination Alive
  • Management of the Destination Services team
  • DS/TWC budget involvement
  • Key Liaison between Concierge Manager and Destination Services

Essential Functions – Overview

  • Research and develop global Destination Experiences (including destinations, local, annual and special events, regattas, carnivals, film festivals, etc.) for allocated ports
  • Plan and coordinate Destination Experiences including Child/Family-friendly offerings in relevant months (eg. June, July, August and December), active offerings (i.e. Photography, Sports events), F&B themed offerings and Bespoke suggestions.
  • Plan and coordinate approved programs from onboard departments (Fitness, Golf, Spa, F&B etc) as directed by Director, Destination Development or Program Director
  • Create Overland Journeys in selected destinations as directed by Director, Destination Development
  • Conduct scouting trips for upcoming ports
  • Contract Negotiation – perform cost comparisons and analyze competitive bids from DMCs, including confidential comparison sheet (CPS), manage vendor contracts, oversee payments for designated regions
  • Works closely with the Director Destination Development on creation of upcoming Itinerary Presentations to the community from a Destination Services programming perspective
  • Support the Concierge Teams needs in relation to successful execution of Destination Experiences
  • Manage Destination Services team members ensuring direct reports have continuous and defined set of goals.
  • Key Liaison between Concierge Manager and Destination Services

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience in five-star/luxury Shore Excursions, International Tour/Travel Operations, International Group Travel Operations, Resort or Cruise Line, Private Travel Company, Event Management with experience in creating unique and authentic programs
  • Strong global destination experience from a luxury travel perspective
  • Strong world-wide knowledge of geography and Destination offerings
  • BA/BS 4 year degree or foreign equivalency
  • Excellent research skills
  • Proficient in MS office to include, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Must have superior command of the English language, both verbal & written
  • Must be able to travel based on job demands and requirements (Approximate yearly travel time is estimated to be 8-10 weeks).
  • Proven ability to create evocative and noteworthy travel experiences including such things as media accolades
  • Extensive destination knowledge from living/studying in foreign countries
  • Product development background with extensive industry connections
  • Copywriting qualifications a plus
